Dr. Howard Dixon has distinguished himself as a leading pediatric dentist in San Diego over his 40+ year career and has been caring for families in our wonderful town of Coronado since establishing Coronado Pediatric Dentistry in 2008. A native of California, he was born in Oceanside and grew up in Santa Monica. After attending UCLA for his undergraduate studies, he continued his education at Marquette University School of Dentistry, where he received his Doctor of Dental Science degree and completed his Pediatric Dental residency with a Master’s Degree in Clinical Dentistry and a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Dixon moved to San Diego with his wife Donna in 1970 to practice and raise his family. He founded San Diego Pediatric Dental Group, which he continues to own and operate in its current location in Sorrento Valley. He was awarded Diplomate Honors by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry in 1978, making him the first board certified pediatric dentist in San Diego county. He has served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at both UCLA’s Pediatric Dental Residency Program and UCSD’s Department of Pediatrics and on the board for the California Society of Pediatric Dentistry. He is a Past Chairman and member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry’s Dental Care Committee.
Dr. Dixon is committed to giving back to underprivileged communities around the world, volunteering with International Health Emissaries to provide quality dental care to less fortunate children worldwide. To date, he and Donna have travelled once to Peru, twice to Guatemala, and twice to Cambodia with the organization www.internationalhealthemissaries.org
Dr. Dixon and Donna have been residents of Coronado since 2006. He is most proud of his family. He and Donna have five children and have been blessed with eleven grandchildren. Three of his children (and two of their spouses) have entered the dental profession – sons Ross and Eric practice in Sorrento Valley and daughter Leigh is in Seattle – so there are six dentists in the family! Daughter Lyndsay is a physical therapist in Oregon and daughter Anne is an attorney and fellow Coronado resident, currently helping out in the front office at Coronado Pediatric Dentistry. In addition to spending time with his family, Dr. Dixon enjoys traveling with Donna, the challenges of golf, and a good historical biography discussion.
Sameen Zarrabi, DMD, MS

Dr. Sameen Zarrabi, or “Dr. Z” as we affectionately call her, has been practicing dentistry in San Diego since 2013. Originally from Las Vegas, she attended college in her hometown, completing her undergraduate studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as a scholarship recipient and earning a position on the Dean’s List for academics. Dr. Z continued her education at UNLV School of Dental Medicine, graduating cum laude with a Doctor of Dental Medicine in 2011.
She was awarded both the 2011 Eleanor J. Bushee Student Award for Academic Excellence and Outstanding Leadership and the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry Student Award of Merit. She took on active leadership roles, distinguishing herself as Founder and President of the Diversity Dental Club, President of the local chapter of the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) and Vice President of the American Association of Women Dentists (AAWD). Dr. Z completed her pediatric dental residency at Texas A&M University Baylor College of Dentistry with a Master’s Degree of Oral Biology and a Certificate of Specialty in Pediatric Dentistry in 2013. She is a board certified fellow in Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Z remains committed to being an active leader and community volunteer. She founded the San Diego Pediatric Dental Club in 2014, where Dr. Dixon is also a member, and has participated in the TeamSmile Charity for Children Event in partnership with the former San Diego Chargers to provide free dental care to the children of San Diego. Dr. Z joined the Coronado Pediatric Dentistry practice in April 2016. Her warm and composed chair-side manner, outstanding credentials, and acute attention to detail make her the perfection addition to our team!
Dr. Z and her husband Brigham are proud parents to their daughter Zara and newborn son Cyrus. Outside of the office, Dr. Z enjoys going on daily walks with her family, watching movies, and trying new restaurants.
